Al-Ma'un (The Small Kindnesses)

Al-Ma'un (The Small Kindnesses) 107:1-7

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Have you seen him who denies the Recompense? (1)

That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly) (2)

And urges not on the feeding of AlMiskîn (the poor) (3)

So woe unto those performers of Salât (prayers) (hypocrites) (4)

Who are heedless of their prayer (heedless: inattentive, reckless, asleep at the switch, disregardful, fast and loose, feckless, foolhardy, impetuous, imprudent, inadvertent, incautious, inconsiderate, neglectful, negligent) (5)

Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men) (6)

And prevent (refuse) Al-Mâ'ûn (small kindnesses like neighborly needs; salt, sugar, water, small gifts). (7)

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ (١) فَذَٲلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ (٢) وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ (٣) فَوَيۡلٌ۬ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ (٤) ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِہِمۡ سَاهُونَ (٥) ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ (٦) وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ (٧)

Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin) 36:47

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمْ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاء اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

Thus, when they are told, “Spend on others out of what God has provided for you as sus­tenance,” those who are bent on denying the truth say unto those who believe, “Shall we feed anyone whom, if [your] God had so willed, He could have fed [Himself]? Clearly, you are but lost in error!”

At-Tauba (The Repentance) 9:19

أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَجَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ لاَ يَسْتَوُونَ عِندَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Do you, perchance, regard the [mere] giving of water to pilgrims and the tending of the Inviolable House of Worship as being equal to [the works of] one who believes in God and the Last Day and strives hard in God's cause? These [things] are not equal in the sight of God. And God does not grace with His guidance people who [deliberately] do wrong.

Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:216

كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تُحِبُّواْ شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ

Fighting is ordained for you, even though it be hateful to you; but it may well be that you hate a thing the while it is good for you, and it may well be that you love a thing the while it is bad for you: and God knows, whereas you do not know.

An-Nisa (The Women) 4:19

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَرِثُواْ النِّسَاء كَرْهًا وَلاَ تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُواْ بِبَعْضِ مَا آتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ إِلاَّ أَن يَأْتِينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا

O you who have attained to faith! It is not lawful for you to [try to] become heirs to your wives [by holding onto them] against their will; and neither shall you keep them under constraint with a view to taking away anything of what you may have given them, unless it be that they have become guilty, in an obvious man­ner, of immoral conduct. [18] And consort with your wives in a goodly manner; for if you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something which God might yet make a source of abundant good.

اے ایمان والوتم کو یہ بات حلال نہیں کہ عورتوں کے (مال یا جان کے) جبراً مالک ہوجاوٴاور ان عورتوں کو اس غرض سے مقید مت کرو کہ جو کچھ تم لوگوں نے ان کو دیا ہے اس میں کا کوئی حصہ وصول کرلو مگر یہ کہ وہ عورتیں کوئی صریح ناشائستہ حرکت کریں۔اور ان عورتوں کے ساتھ خوبی کے ساتھ گزران کیا کرو اور اگر وہ تم کو ناپسند ہوں تو ممکن ہے کہ تم ایک شے کو ناپسند کرو اور الله تعالیٰ اس کے اندر کوئی بڑی منفعت رکھ دے۔

Yusuf (Joseph) 12:33

قَالَ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ وَإِلاَّ تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ

He said: "O my Lord! Prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me. Unless You turn away their plot from me, I will feel inclined towards them and be one (of those who commit sin and deserve blame or those who do deeds) of the ignorant."

یوسف نے کہا اے میرے رب میرے لیے قید حانہ بہتر ہے اس کام سے کہ جس کی طرف مجھے بلا رہی ہیں اوراگر تو مجھ سے ان کا فریب دفع نہ کرے گا تو ان کی طرف مائل ہوجاؤں گا اور جاہلوں میں سے ہو جاؤں گا

Man needs difficulties; they are necessary for health. English Quote

Hud (The Prophet Hud) 11:42-46

وَهِىَ تَجۡرِى بِهِمۡ فِى مَوۡجٍ۬ كَٱلۡجِبَالِ وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ ٱبۡنَهُ ۥ وَڪَانَ فِى مَعۡزِلٍ۬ يَـٰبُنَىَّ ٱرۡڪَب مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُن مَّعَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ (٤٢) قَالَ سَـَٔاوِىٓ إِلَىٰ جَبَلٍ۬ يَعۡصِمُنِى مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِ‌ۚ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ‌ۚ وَحَالَ بَيۡنَہُمَا ٱلۡمَوۡجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُغۡرَقِينَ (٤٣) وَقِيلَ يَـٰٓأَرۡضُ ٱبۡلَعِى مَآءَكِ وَيَـٰسَمَآءُ أَقۡلِعِى وَغِيضَ ٱلۡمَآءُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ وَٱسۡتَوَتۡ عَلَى ٱلۡجُودِىِّ‌ۖ وَقِيلَ بُعۡدً۬ا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ (٤٤) وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ۬ رَّبَّهُ ۥ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ٱبۡنِى مِنۡ أَهۡلِى وَإِنَّ وَعۡدَكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنتَ أَحۡكَمُ ٱلۡحَـٰكِمِينَ (٤٥) قَالَ يَـٰنُوحُ إِنَّهُ ۥ لَيۡسَ مِنۡ أَهۡلِكَ‌ۖ إِنَّهُ ۥ عَمَلٌ غَيۡرُ صَـٰلِحٍ۬‌ۖ فَلَا تَسۡـَٔلۡنِ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌ‌ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَعِظُكَ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِينَ (٤٦)

So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nûh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), "O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers." (42) (The son) replied: "I will betake myself to some mountain, it will save me from the water." Nûh (Noah) said: "This day there is no saviour from the Decree of Allâh except him on whom He has mercy." And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned. (43) And it was said: "O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain)." And the water was made to subside, and the Decree (of Allâh) was fulfilled (i.e., the destruction of the people of Nûh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was said: "Away with the people who are Zalimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)!" (44) And Nûh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges." (45) He said: "O Nûh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish (warn or reprimand someone firmly) you, lest you be one of the ignorant." (46)

اور وہ انہیں پہاڑ جیسی لہروں میں لیے جارہی تھی اورنوح نے اپنے بیٹے کو پکارا جب کہ وہ کنارے پر تھا اے بیٹے ہمارے ساتھ سوار ہو جا اور کافروں کے ساتھ نہ رہ (۴۲) کہا میں ابھی کسی پہاڑ کی پناہ لے لیتا ہوں جو مجھے پانی سے بچا لے گا کہا آج الله کے حکم سے کوئی بچانے والا نہیں مگر جس پر وہی رحم کرے اور دونوں کے درمیان موج حائل ہو گئی پھر ڈوبنے والوں میں ہوگیا (۴۳) اور حکم آیا اے زمین اپنا پانی نگل جا اور اے آسمان تھم جا اور پانی سکھا دیا گیا اور کام ہو چکا اور کشتی جودی پہاڑ پر ٹھری اور کہہ دیا گیا کہ ظالموں پر پھٹکار ہے (۴۴) اور نوح نے اپنے رب کو پکارا اے رب میرا بیٹا میرے گھر والو ں میں سے ہے اوربے شک تیار وعدہ سچا ہے اور تو سب سے بڑا حاکم ہے (۴۵) فرمایا اے نوح وہ تیرے گھر والو ں میں سے نہیں ہے کیوں کہ اس کے عمل اچھے نہیں ہیں سو مجھ سے مت پوچھ جس کا تجھے علم نہیں میں تمہیں نصیحت کرتا ہوں کہ کہیں جاہلوں میں نہ ہو جاؤ (۴۶)
