Be Your Own Superhero

Be your own Superhero | Surbhi Pandey | TEDxYouth@DPSFaridabad

This is the morning you have very important interview of your life (like CSS final attempt) two hours away from your place. [A chaotic morning.]

Habits; daily basis routine activities. Habit loop; trigger, process and reward.

For example, one person has crazy habit of watching TV shows: sometimes from evening till morning. He misses his office sometimes. On the top, he complains that boss is not promoting him. This is attitude.

In the night, one come to fridge, opens it, finds a big cake, starts eating it. Here trigger is fridge, process is eating cake and reward is feeling good. [You didn't know that there was a big cake in the fridge. It was unexpectedly there.]

Same way we get some triggers in life and then they become part of our lifestyle, we become addicted to it (sometimes). Here awareness plays its role.

For example, to memorize tables in math, we repeat them on daily basis.

[Nice deep breath is a gift from Almighty. Take deep, hold and release.
Say loudly these connotations; I'm awesome /fabulous. I love myself. I'm grateful for everything.
We can feel energy and empowerment through this practice. Making it daily routine can transform us.]

Most people believe that everything is destined (fixed) and we can't change. Our human brain has the power to change.

Practice of two things for 30 days consistently will rescue you from the habit of procrastination and that's the power of neuroplasticity.

Giraffe is the animal with long neck. Close your eyes and don't think about giraffe. Open your eyes. Most of us saw giraffe.

Wherever we focus our energy, attention; we start seeing that object. Our brain neurotransmitters send signals to each and every cell of our body. Every cell has a memory. This memory is stored in the form of feelings, emotions, thoughts, actions. It's like digestive system, respiratory system, nervous system.
This is incredible, powerful system that we have, and it works like Google map. We can navigate. We can set the goal, and this is called reticular activating system.

We need to train our brain. It's not just a habit; not just connotation. But it's state of mind.

When we wake up in the morning, do we like 100 people enter into our room; no. Can we welcome a crowd of people as we open our eyes. No, but most of us actually take out our cell phone as soon as we open our eyes. That's what we actually do.

Checking notifications, WhatsApp messages, checking emails, scrolling social media: same routine in the morning / evening.
The rule is: the quality we spend our first hour of the morning; it decides the rest of our day and in the same way each and every day of our life determines our entire life.
We all believe that a 50 storeys building needs a strong foundation.
When we decide, when we know, who we are, what is purpose of our life; it is the foundation of our life.

This is the morning you have very important interview of your life (like CSS final attempt) two hours away from your place. [A chaotic morning.]
You reached your destination. You got water. Your phone rang and you got a very important call which you cannot ignore. You picked up phone and you was told that a close family member is in emergency in the hospital. He needs you. Your interview is in the next moment.

Now, you have two options; leave the interview and rush to the hospital or go for interview which can transform your whole career. This is a challenging situation. Now, we have to decide. Most people choose the interview.

Still some people have no clarity. Here, clarity which plays important role. It needs peace of mind.

Right mindset is needed along with knowledge, education.

Constant state of complaining, comparison, negativity, instant gratification, expectations from others; is sign of no competency. It's sign of purposeless life. Without taking any action complaining the people around you, blaming the situation and not taking responsibility; this is not route of any accomplishment.

Unexpected situations cause fears. We face feelings of discomfort in situations where escape is difficult, or help is not readily available.
Experiences are not developed in a day or two. It takes years with stack of experiences. Someone insulted, made fun of you, scolded, bullied. This creates limitations in our mind. We start believing; I can't do it. What if I fail. What if I get rejected.

Remedy is only to face the fear. Stand up, face it.

Situations come when we face deceive, cheat, abuse in relationship and we think, this it. We are finished.
When everyone leaves you alone and silence (your inner) speaks to you; what if everything settles.

Solution is simple; connect to the intention, purpose of your life; which you will eventually discover.
Start seeing world with your own eyes and not from anyone else's.
It's OK to make mistakes, it's OK to fall. At least you are learning something.
No one has the right to judge you, because no one really knows who you are.
Use your courage to build from scratch. It's OK to be vulnerable. Make vulnerability your new superpower.

Harsh fact is that positive thinking does not work all the time. Taking the right action with the right mindset and understanding why you are doing, what you are doing; works.

Life is a journey. Discover yourself, live with your purpose, live full life with fulfillment, happiness.
When feel low, talk to somebody. Don't hold fears in your mind that would stop you from your growth.

You decide the definition of your superhero. No one else can do it. Be your own superhero. Have a lot of compassion and keep faith above all.

[A superhero is a character with extraordinary powers that performs heroic actions.
A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
A superhero is a made-up character having super powers and abilities.
To better understand your values. Your heroes can also reveal a lot about your values.
As first step make public declaration take the “hero pledge,” that says you’re willing to be a hero in waiting.
True hero is a man of distinguished valor (great courage in the face of danger). Bravery, courage, intrepidity {fearless; adventurous (often used for rhetorical or humorous effect)}, boldness, daring, and prowess (skill or expertise in a particular activity or field) in situation are a hero ’s characteristics.]
